Senators trio making Waves

With the West Coast Waves off to a promising start in the 2010/11 WNBL season, Senators fans will once again have some faces to follow with three members of the team selected in the squad. Michelle Joy, Gabriella Clayton and new recruit Rachel Watman are all in the squad for the Perth outfit to compete in the 2010/11 WNBL season.

Joy, named last year’s team MVP, enjoyed a stellar debut in the WSBL after moving from Sydney to pursue a chance with the Waves.

“I’m excited about the upcoming season with the Waves, we have all been working hard in preseason and looking forward for our first game this week against Dandenong.”

Clayton, back after a year in the USA College system, was especially looking forward to working and learning from Australian Opal Tully Bevilaqua and added the benefits of playing with Joy and Watman in the group.

“Having Michelle, Rach and I come back into SBL will definitely lift the intensity at our trainings and also the improvements we would have all gained as individuals can only help our team.”

Poised for her first season with the Senators in 2011, guard Rachel Watman echoed the same sentiments.

“I am really enjoying WA and everyone has been great. My new team mates have been fantastic and having Mish and Gabbi at Waves has been a great bonus. I’m really looking forward to the WNBL season coming up and then playing with Mish and Gabbi as well as the rest of my team mates at Stirling in the WSBL.”

The Alcohol.Think Again West Coast Waves play their home games at West Australian Basketball Centre. A copy of the season fixtures is attached and Senators members can catch the trio in action during the WNBL season by purchasing tickets through Basketball WA or contacting West Coast Waves Administrator Alana Munnee for a season pass at Alana.munnee@basketballwa.asn.au.
