Cassir joins Tigers den

In a major coup for the Willetton Tigers, previous Willetton junior Rob Cassir has returned to the Mens team for the upcoming season.

Cassir is an athletic 6’5 guard who has been playing for the Perth Redbacks since he left the Tigers den at a young age. Hehas exceptional quickness across the floor and is sure to provide some exciting highlights in the upcoming season for Tigers fans.

His height, quickness and athleticism means he can play on anyone from the guard or forward positions.

Head Coach Shayne Hampel was very happy with the signing of Cassir.

“Rob has got a lot of upside and I predict we’ll see big things from him not only this season but in the future. He has tremendous quickness around the court and is a very smart player."

"With the loss of a few senior players after last year’s finals we need to build up our stocks and getting Rob back to the club where he began is a great thing."

Cassir is the first major addition for the reigning premiers for the 2011 season who have lost the services of Daniel Johnson (Adelaide 36s), Alex Prince (travel), Ty Shaw (playing in Europe) and Mark Jones (injured) for the upcoming season.

Hampel believes Cassir can step up for the Tigers in 2011.

"He averaged about 6 points and 4 rebounds with Perth last year and we’ll need him to improve on this is season 2011. He’ll get every opportunity to shine.”

Stay tuned for more announcements in the coming weeks.
