Norwood signs on at Eagles

East Perth District Basketball Association (EPDBA) is pleased to advise that current West Coast Waves Player Samantha Norwood will suit up again for the Australian Central Eagles in the upcoming 2011 Women’s State Basketball League (WSBL) Season.

Norwood (21 years old) is a 184cm forward who has just completed her third season with the Think Again West Coast Waves in the Women’s National Basketball league (WNBL) where she was awarded the Most Improved Player for the second year in a row. This WNBL season Norwood has taken her game to another level with over 8 points per game and 7 rebounds including a Season High 24 points against Dandenong and 14 rebounds against Logan.

Last SBL Season, Norwood had a stellar season for the Lady Eagles where she was Joint Most Valuable Player for the Eagles and also made the WSBL All-Star 5. Norwood averaged 14 points and 11 rebounds per game and led the Lady Eagles into the Final Series.

Samantha is looking forward to combining with other recent signings including West Coast Waves team member Kate Fielding who debuted with the Waves playing 10 games. Kate (24 years old) is 178cm guard who has played nearly 200 WSBL Games with the South West Slammers where she started playing at 14 years old. With her involvement in the West Coast Waves program Kate has decided to move to Perth.

In 2010 the Lady Eagles showed great improvement by participating in the Final Series, the first time for the Lady Eagles since 1989.
