PowerPlayer of the Week

Each week thanks to PowerPlay Sports, one Women’s and one Men’s SBL player is awarded the SBL PowerPlayer of the week award. The winner receives a $50 voucher for PowerPlay Sports in Osborne Park.

Mandurah Magic guard Cassey Mihovilovich takes out the first award of the season after leading the Magic to a 66-63 win over the Australian Central Eagles. Mihovilovich starred with 23 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists, guiding her team in the fourth quarter as they out-scored the Eagles 21 to 7 to snatch the win.

Melissa Marsh was also a strong candidate for PowerPlayer of the Week as she led the Defending Champion Southlands Boulevarde Willetton Tigers to a blow-out win over the Perth Redbacks. Marsh recorded 22 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists in a dominant performance for the Tigers. Southwest Slammers rookie Bianca Donovan had a superb first game of the season with 22 points and 5 assists as the Slammers started the season with a 73-59 win over the Rockingham Flames.

Others in consideration were Denielle Lipscombe (East Perth), Shelly Boston (Mandurah), Jacinta Bourne (Rockingham), Lavesa Glover (South West), Jess Van Schie (Lakeside), Chelsea Armstrong (Kalamunda), Tegan Walker (Perry Lakes), Rebecca Mercer (Wanneroo), Danika Pisconeri (Stirling), Courtney Hargreaves (Cockburn) and Brooke Hiddlestone (Perth).

Wanneroo Wolves forward Greg Hire takes out the Men’s first PowerPlayer of the Week award after leading his side to a 2-0 weekend to start the year strongly. Hire averaged 22 points, 20.5 rebounds and 6 assists per game while shooting 60% from the field.

Perth Redbacks big man Adrian Majstrovich was a serious contender with his side recording a 98 to 91 win over the Defending Champion Southlands Boulevarde Willetton Tigers. Majstrovich racked up a massive 42 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Cockburn Cougars Import Ty Harrelson also started the season well, leading his team to a 2-0 weekend while averaging 25 points, 9.5 rebounds and 5 assists.

Others considered were Tom Jervis & Jarrod Balcombe (East Perth), Tom Remmerswaal (Mandurah), Rhett Della Maddalena (Rockingham), Matt Smith (South West), Benjamin Beran (Lakeside), Justin Brown (Kalamunda), Mathew Rosinski (Goldfields), Andrew Bowman (Mandurah), Aaron Ralph (Geraldton), Anthony Lee (Perry Lakes), Michael Jones (Stirling) and Robert Kampman (Willetton).
