Beran, Payne claim PowerPlayer of the Week

Lakeside Lightning US forward Ben Beran picked up the PowerPlayer of the Week award in Week Two State Basketball League action.

Beran picked up the award over new Total Connections Perry Lakes Hawks import Anthony Lee to claim the $50 voucher to PowerPlay Sports in Osborne Park.

The Lightning forward starred as his team picked up two big wins over 2010 finalists Wanneroo Wolves and Perth Redbacks averaging 33 points, 4.5 rebounds while shooting at 56.25%.

Lee was equally as strong as his team split their weekend, averaging 31.5 points at 57.14% and 17.5 rebounds

In Women’s action Perth Redbacks star Marita Payne took out the PowerPlayer of the Week award for her efforts.

Payne beat fellow Redbacks team mate Brooke Hiddlestone to take out the $50 PowerPlay Sports voucher.

The centre averaged 24 points and 10 rebounds while guiding her team to victories over Lakeside and 2010 Grand Finalists Perry Lakes.

Hiddlestone was also strong with 23.5 points and 10.5 rebounds but also averaged nearly 5 turnovers in her two appearances.
