Hawks end Cockburn's unbeaten run (Saturday Night Wrap)

Cockburn Cougars' undefeated start to the men's State Basketball League season is over after they lost 94-90 to Perry Lakes Hawks.

The Cougars had won their first six games of the year but star Perry Lakes import Anthony Lee had 36 points to lead his side to its third straight victory and halt Cockburn's dream start.

The Cougars held a five-point lead at one stage in the fourth quarter but the Hawks overran the league leaders, despite the best efforts of Cougars import Stanley Ocitti (25 points).

Aaron Ralph hit a clutch three-pointer with just three seconds left to give Geraldton Buccaneers a thrilling 77-74 victory over defending champions Willetton Tigers.

The Tigers led with less than a minute left but Ralph's heroics saw Geraldton home for just its second win of the season, while Willetton's loss saw it drop to a 3-4 record.

Lakeside Lightning staged a stunning comeback to record an 88-81 road win over Goldfields Giants.

The Giants led by as many as 20 points at one stage and held a 12-point three-quarter-time advantage, but the Lightning dominated the final period to claim an unlikely victory, led by Luke Payne (38 points).

Rockingham Flames suffered just their second defeat of the season in a 111-107 upset against Stirling Senators.

Elsewhere, East Perth Eagles beat Southwest Slammers 115-98 and Wildcats development player Greg Hire (29 points) helped Wanneroo Wolves continue Mandurah Magic's poor run with a 115-81 win.

Meanwhile, Perry Lakes' women's side claimed its fourth straight win with a 71-64 victory over Cockburn, led by Tegan Walker (20 points).

In other women's games, Wanneroo consolidated its top four spot with an 80-60 win against Mandurah, Stirling continued Rockingham's miserable season with an 85-52 victory and East Perth thrashed Southwest 71-47.
