Rockingham Flames - Home Game Update

The State Basketball League has finalised arrangements for the Rockingham Flames Week Six home game and the rescheduled Week Five home game.

This weekend the Flames Men take on the Goldfields Giants, with the Mike Barnett Sports Complex still not able to host SBL games.

The SBL is pleased to announce that this game will be hosted as a “Country Double Header” at the Ray Owen Sports Centre on Friday 22 April. The Kalamunda Eastern Suns and Geraldton Buccaneers will play the first game at 6:00pm with the Flames and Giants game being played at 8:30pm.

“This is a great outcome for fans and supporters of country basketball with two blockbuster games being offered at the one venue” said Competitions Manager Christian Rice.

“The SBL would like to acknowledge the Kalamunda Eastern Suns for agreeing to host this game.”

“Additionally the support of all four teams involved should be acknowledged, it is great to see that our teams can work together in difficult situations to ensure the best possible outcome for the league.”

Ray Owen Sports Centre will be one of three venues hosting SBL action on Good Friday with four other great games taking place.

The Perry Lakes Hawks and East Perth Eagles will do battle at Willetton and the Cockburn Cougars will host the Redbacks. The Women’s and Men’s games at both venues expected to be thrillers with the Cougars & Redbacks battle being shown on SBLtv.

The Rockingham Flames and Kalamunda Eastern Suns game that was postponed last Friday has been rescheduled for Week Nine.

Both clubs have agreed to have the match played on Friday 13 May at the Mike Barnett Sports Complex, which is expected to have their scoring systems upgraded by then. The tip off times will be the standard Friday night times of 6:30pm (Women) and 8:30pm (Men).

Both Kalamunda and Rockingham also play on the Saturday night in Week 13 which will result in a double header weekend for the teams.

“This continues to be an unfortunate situation for the Flames. The league would like to thank the organisation for their continued efforts in working with management at the Mike Barnett Sports Complex to get the stadium up to SBL standards.
