Tigers, Wolves set for top-of-the-table clash (Round Six WSBL Preview)

Southlands Boulevarde Willetton Tigers will face their toughest test of the women's State Basketball League season so far when they host Glasscraft Wanneroo Wolves in round six on Thursday.

The defending champion Tigers have cruised to victories in all of their six games but the second placed Wolves, who have only lost one of their six matches, will fancy their chances of ending Willetton's unbeaten run.

The Tigers could be boosted by the return of star centre Zoe Harper, who has missed all of her side's matches so far, but Wanneroo heads into the clash full of confidence, having won its last three matches, including victories against top eight sides Mandurah Magic and Kalamunda Eastern Suns last weekend.

Total Connections Perry Lakes Hawks and Australian Central East Perth Eagles will both be looking to continue their impressive form when they meet on Friday.

The Hawks have won four straight to climb into the top four, but they remain one spot behind the Eagles, who have won four of their last five games.

Metropolis Fremantle Cockburn Cougars will be looking to build a consistent run of good form, starting with their home clash against Perth Redbacks on Friday.

The Cougars are yet to win or lose consecutive games this season, which sees them sit in eighth spot. But the Redbacks, who have climbed up to fifth place with two straight wins, will be confident of handing Cockburn its second consecutive loss.

Western Stainless Stirling Senators will be out to continue their improved form when they travel to face Lakeside Lightning on Thursday.

The Senators moved within one win of the top eight with victories in two of their last three games, but will be up against a Lakeside team desperate to end its five-game losing streak.

Mandurah Magic will be looking to stay close to the top four with a victory in their Thursday clash against South West Slammers.

The Magic are just one win outside the top four and will be confident of closing that gap with a win over the Slammers, who have lost five straight.
