Week Six Women's Power Rankings

SBL.asn.au writer Jacob Kagi ranks each team from most likely to least likely to win the championship, based on their results six weeks into the season.

1. Southlands Boulevarde Willetton Tigers (1st place, 7-0 record) - Showed plenty of resolve to get past Wanneroo in overtime last round to continue their dominant start. It's quickly becoming a case of will - not when - the Tigers be beaten.

2. Total Connections Perry Lakes Hawks (3rd, 5-2) - After a slow start, the Hawks have won five straight and have beaten some pretty good teams in the process, including East Perth on Friday. Once again they shape up as Willetton's biggest challenger.

3. Glasscraft Wanneroo Wolves (2nd, 5-2) - Sent Willetton a real scare last week and showed they have the potential to beat anyone on their day. Should cruise past Stirling this weekend.

4. Mandurah Magic (4th, 4-2) - Would have liked to have beaten the Slammers by more than seven last Thursday, but could more than make up for it with victory over the Tigers this weekend. With the addition of a new import soon, Mandurah should be a top four side.

5. Australian Central East Perth Eagles (5th, 4-3) - Saw their three-game winning streak end with a disappointing loss to Perry Lakes last weekend. But few sides boast a combination as dangerous as Samantha Norwood and Kate Fielding and the Eagles also could beat anyone on their day.

6. Perth Redbacks (7th, 4-4) - Haven't reached the heights expected of them yet, but still boast the WSBL's most lethal front court duo in Brooke Hiddlestone and Marita Payne. The Redbacks should find consistency soon.

7. Metropolis Fremantle Cockburn Cougars (6th, 4-3) - The Cougars have shown a great ability to spread their scoring around early in the season, but still have solid leadership, including Emma Pass and Courtney Hargreaves. And that is a mix that can be tough to beat.

8. Kalamunda Eastern Suns (8th, 3-3) - Have fallen back to earth with three straight losses after an impressive start and face a tough doubleheader against Willetton and Perth this weekend.

9. Lakeside Lightning (10th, 1-5) - Broke through for a much-needed first win last weekend and will be desperate to get on a roll. Wins over Cockburn and Rockingham this weekend would get them right back in finals contention.

10. Western Stainless Stirling Senators (9th, 2-5) - Will have been extremely disappointed with their loss to the Lightning last week, where they scored just 14 points in the first half. Must find consistency soon.

11. Southwest Slammers (11th, 1-6) - Have lost six straight after winning their first game and their confidence will be sinking, but their narrow loss to Mandurah would indicate they're not far away from another victory.

12. Rockingham Flames (12th, 0-5) - Were crippled by key departures and injuries in the pre-season and haven't recovered. Their 64.23 percentage says it all.
