Lightning bolting towards top eight (Round Seven WSBL Wrap)

Lakeside Lightning continued their resurgence with a pair of victories which saw them move within one win of the women's State Basketball League top eight after seven rounds.

The Lightning beat Metropolis Fremantle Cockburn Cougars 74-62 on Friday and Rockingham Flames 75-48 on Saturday, meaning they've won three straight since losing their first five games of the season.

Courtney Bayliss top-scored with 20 points against Cockburn while Emma Pass had 18 points for the Cougars, who sit in seventh spot despite not having won consecutive games all season.

And Emily Fielding's 20 points saw Lakeside cruise past Rockingham and climb to ninth spot, while the Flames remained winless for the season.

Southlands Boulevarde Willetton Tigers' unbeaten streak reached nine games with victories over Mandurah Magic and Kalamunda Eastern Suns.

The Tigers thrashed the fourth placed Magic 83-58 on the back of Zoe Harper's 19 points, while Tarsha Fletccher top-scored for Mandurah with 17 points.

And Willetton was similarly convincing in its 80-65 victory over the Suns, with Melissa Marsh helping the league leaders continue their outstanding form with 19 points.

But Kalamunda bounced back to beat Perth Redbacks 68-54 on Saturday.

Melissa Moyle had 23 points to lead the Suns to their first win in five games, while Perth fell to eighth spot with its second straight loss despite the best efforts of Marita Payne (14 points).

Western Stainless Stirling Senators caused a major upset with a 62-56 victory over Australian Central East Perth Eagles.

The Senators scored just two points in the third quarter but overturned a seven-point deficit at the final break to claim their third win of the season, led by Rachel Watman's 16 points.

Samantha Norwood had 20 points and 15 rebounds, but it wasn't enough for East Perth to avoid its second straight loss.

Sherelle Johnson scored 15 points to help Glasscraft Wanneroo Wolves thrash Stirling 84-61 and remain in second spot.

Mandurah thrashed Southern Metropolitan rivals Rockingham 87-57 to consolidate its top four spot.

Casey Mihovilovich top-scored for the Magic with 24 points, while Darcy Garbin had 21 points for the Flames.
