Hawks swoop into top four (Friday Night Wrap)

Perry Lakes Hawks have moved into the top four of the men's State Basketball League after beating Willetton Tigers in a 95-93 thriller.

The Hawks blew a 17-point lead in the second quarter and fell behind by seven with four minutes left in the game, but came back to claim their fourth straight win and seventh victory from their last eight games.

Star import Anthony Lee had 37 points to help Perry Lakes climb to fourth spot and improve to an 8-4 record, while defending champions Willetton saw their three-game winning streak end despite Robert Kampman's 39 points.

Lakeside Lightning had to overturn a 13-point deficit to beat East Perth Eagles 100-93, a result which saw last year's runner-up move back into first place.

Even the debut of Perth Wildcats guard Drew Williamson (18 points) wasn't enough to prevent East Perth slumping to its fourth straight loss.

Instead, American forward Ben Beran, who leads the league in points per game, had 16 points in his first game since recovering from a back injury which kept him out for six weeks to help Lakeside to victory.

Kalamunda Eastern Suns consolidated their top eight spot with their fourth straight win, a 109-92 triumph against Rockingham Flames.

Dean Hadley's 38 points saw the Suns climb to seventh spot and hand Rockingham its seventh straight loss, despite starting the season with wins in four of its first five games.

In women's action, Willetton got back on track after losing its first game of the season last week with an 81-66 victory in its top-of-the-table clash against Perry Lakes Hawks, led by Melissa Marsh (21 points).

Elsewhere, East Perth overturned a deficit in the final minute to beat Lakeside 67-63 and Kalamunda thrashed the winless Flames 77-37.
