Redbacks back on track (Saturday Night Wrap)

Perth Redbacks broke a run of miserable form to consolidate their men's State Basketball League top eight spot with a 111-86 road victory against Geraldton Buccaneers.

The Redbacks had fallen to eighth spot after four consecutive losses but were always in control against the Buccaneers, thanks largely to Ryan Neill's 39 points.

Todd Brown had 21 points for Geraldton, but it wasn't enough for his side to avoid its fourth straight defeat.

Perry Lakes Hawks continued their outstanding form with a 110-107 overtime victory against Cockburn Cougars.

Anthony Lee (33 points) helped the Hawks to their fifth consecutive win, which was enough for them to move into the top four, while Cockburn has lost three of its last six games.

Lakeside Lightning remained in first spot after thrashing Goldfields Giants 109-81.

Luke Payne had 27 points and fellow import Ben Beran 25 to lead Lakeside to its second straight win, while Goldfields saw its four-game winning streak end despite Matthew Rosinski's 27 points.

Kalamunda Eastern Suns saw their four-game winning run broken by Stirling Senators after a 113-87 result.

Michael Jones had 37 points and Lee Roberts 36 to help Stirling improve its record to 6-6, while Corey Craig had 19 points for the Suns.

Wanneroo Wolves consolidated their spot in the top four with a 105-94 victory over Mandurah Magic, led by John Vaudreuil (19 points).

A late Rockingham Flames comeback denied Southwest Slammers their first victory of the year. Instead the Flames broke their seven-game losing streak with an 83-76 win.

In women's action, Rockingham broke through for their first win of the season, a 76-62 triumph over fellow strugglers Southwest Slammers.

Elsewhere, Wanneroo's indifferent form continued with a 77-59 loss to Mandurah, Kalamunda defeated Stirling 78-67 and Perry Lakes beat Cockburn 80-66.
