Eagles clip Hawks wings (Round 10 MSBL Wrap)

Total Connections Perry Lakes Hawks' impressive men's State Basketball League run came to an end with an upset 95-86 loss to Australian Central East Perth Eagles.

The Hawks had surged into the top four with five consecutive wins, but Perth Wildcats guard Drew Williamson ensured that streak was broken with a game-high 37 points for East Perth.

Williamson's dominant performance helped get the Eagles back in finals contention and broke their four-game losing streak, despite another outstanding performance from Hawks import Anthony Lee (27 points and 21 rebounds).

Mandurah Magic also gave their top eight hopes a major boost with a 101-95 home win against Perth Redbacks.

Despite winning just one of their first seven games for the season, the Magic are just one game outside the top eight after their fifth victory of the year.

Centre Taylor Mullenax had 36 points to lead Mandurah to victory, while Adrian Majstrovich's 30-point performance wasn't enough for an under-strength Perth side to avoid its fifth loss from six outings.

Sun City Plumbing Geraldton Buccaneers' finals hopes were dealt with another major blow as they were thrashed 102-73 at home by Lakeside Lightning.

The Buccaneers, who were semi-finalists last year, have lost five straight and sit in 13th spot after Luke Payne (34 points) led league leaders Lakeside to its third consecutive win.

SKILLED Goldfields Giants ended a run of consecutive losses with a thrilling 100-97 win against top eight side ATD Stirling Senators.

The Giants remained in fifth spot after import Matthew Rosinski carried them to victory with 41 points.

Wanneroo Wolves consolidated their top eight spot with comfortable victories against Kalamunda Eastern Suns and Southwest Slammers.

John Vaudreuil (22 points) helped the Wolves to a 101-80 win against the Suns, who have lost two straight, while fellow big man Greg Hire's 23 points saw them triumph 110-84 over the winless Slammers.

Southwest also lost 105-77 to Southlands Boulevarde Willetton Tigers as Robert Kampman (41 points) led the defending champions to their fourth win from five games.

Cockburn Cougars remained in second spot after a 79-52 thrashing of Rockingham Flames, who have lost seven of their last eight.
