Suns, Eagles face crucial match (Round 11 WSBL Preview)

Kalamunda Eastern Suns and Australian Central East Perth Eagles will be looking to boost their top four hopes when they meet in round 11 of the women's State Basketball League.

The sixth-placed Suns and the Eagles, who sit in seventh spot, are just one and two wins outside of the top four respectively and victory would improve either side's chances of finishing with home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

Kalamunda import Leah Rush has been in top form lately and her battle against West Coast Waves tall Samantha Norwood could be crucial to determining the outcome of the game.

Metropolis Fremantle Cockburn Cougars could move into the top four if they beat Perth Redbacks on the road.

The Cougars are within one win of the top four after winning three of their last four games, but the eighth-placed Redbacks, who will be desperate to get back into form after losing three of their previous four, have the potential to cause an upset.

Total Connections Perry Lakes Hawks have an excellent opportunity to consolidate their spot in the top two when they face Lakeside Lightning and Rockingham Flames.

With league leaders Southlands Boulevarde Willetton Tigers and third-placed side Mandurah Magic both having the bye, the Hawks, who sit in second spot, have the chance to make ground on both sides.

But Lakeside will be desperate to end its two-game losing streak and get back into finals contention, while the Flames will be trying for just their second win of the season.

Glasscraft Wanneroo Wolves moved back into the top four with a pair of victories last week and will be looking to continue their solid form with a win against Lakeside.

Western Stainless Stirling Senators have the perfect chance to get back into form when they face bottom two sides Rockingham and Southwest Slammers.

The Senators have lost their last three games and need to improve quickly to have any chance of making the top eight, but they'll start heavy favourites against the Flames and the Slammers, who have lost their last 11 games.
