Tigers leave it late (Saturday Night Wrap)

Willetton Tigers have won 124-117 in overtime against Stirling Senators to remain in touch with the top-four of the men’s State Basketball League.

With both sides tied on 108 at the end of regular time the Tigers outscored Stirling 16-9 in the first extra period.

Rob Kampman had 42 points while Wildcat Matt Knight had 30 and 10 rebounds for Willetton. Lee Roberts (34 points) and Mike Jones (32) were Stirling's best.

East Perth Eagles dealt Perth Redbacks their second loss of the weekend.

Corey Easley had 28 points and eight rebounds and was aided by Tom Jervis with 21 and 16 respectively to lead the Eagles to their 112-108 victory.

Jesse Wagstaff (29 points), Adrian Mastrovich (26) and Joel Wagner (20) all made sizeable contributions for the Redbacks but it wasn’t enough.

Kalamunda Eastern Suns kept their realistic finals hopes alive and dented Goldfields Giants’ chances with a 100-81 win.

Dean Hadley led the Suns with 26 points and nine assists, while Justin Brown had 25 points and 19 rebounds. Darnell Dialls had 19 points in Goldfields' fourth loss from its past five games.

Wanneroo Wolves comprehensively took care of Rockingham Flames 91-64, led by Greg Hire (20 points and 26 rebounds).

Cockburn Cougars accounted for the Geraldton Buccaneers 84-77.

The Cougars set up the win with a dominant 28-16 first period and despite losing the second and third periods won the final quarter 18-17 to clinch the win.

Perry Lakes defeated bottom-placed Southwest Slammers 115-60, with Hawks import Anthony Lee top-scoring with 42 points.

Top-placed Lakeside Lightning were 113-80 winners over the Mandurah Magic, as Lakeside imports Luke Payne (30 points) and Ben Beran (17) did the damage.

In women’s action, Willetton won 74-60 over Stirling, East Perth took care of Perth 81-75, Wanneroo defeated Rockingham 67-42, Mandurah Magic were 89-72 winners over Lakeside and Perry Lakes ensured wins in both matches with a 92-40 win.
