The State Basketball League had to take the unusual action of postponing a game on Friday night at the Willetton Basketball Stadium. 

Due to the extreme weather experienced in Perth, the Willetton Basketball Stadium had problems with leaks that made the playing surface unsafe. 

The game was scheduled to be played at 6:30pm, however by 6:15pm the roof had begun to leak causing concern for officials. 

After consultation with the SBL, club officials, coaches and match officials the decision was made to post-pone the playing of the game citing player safety. 

"Obviously we would like to have played the game as scheduled, however we will not put the safety of players and officials at risk" said Competitions Manager Christian Rice. 

As the weather calmed down later in the night, the surface was deemed safe for the Men's game to be played as per the schedule. 

"We will sit down and look at the schedule for both teams in the last four weeks of the season and make a decision in consultation with both clubs as to when the game will be played" said Rice. 

A statement on when the game will be played will be available as soon as a decision has been made. 

Some other venues also reported issues on Friday night, however all venues were deemed safe to play by match officials.
