Eagles looking to stop Wolfpack's attack (Round 17 WSBL Preview)

Australian Central East Perth Eagles will be hoping to give their women's State Basketball League top four hopes a huge boost with victory over Glasscraft Wanneroo Wolves in round 17 action.

The Wolves, Eagles and Mandurah Magic are competing for the last two places in the top four, which ensures home-court advantage in the quarter-finals, and a win would put either East Perth or Wanneroo in the box seat to secure one of those positions.

The fifth-placed Eagles have won four-straight and have only been beaten twice this season at home, where they face the Wolves on Friday, while Wanneroo will be looking to get back into the outstanding form it was in before losing to Southlands Boulevarde Willetton Tigers two weeks ago.

Wanneroo, which sits in third place, also hosts Southwest Slammers on Saturday and should be far too strong for the Bunbury side, which has won just one of its past 17 games.

Fourth-placed Mandurah has lost its past three games and will be desperate to get back into form when it hosts the Kalamunda Eastern Suns on Friday.

But the Suns have climbed to sixth spot with three-consecutive wins and have a good chance of causing an upset.

Kalamunda also faces Western Stainless Stirling Senators, who need to beat both the Suns and Lakeside Lightning to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.

Eighth-placed Lakeside is battling with Perth Redbacks and Stirling for the last spot in the finals and would go a long way towards securing a playoff spot with victory over the Senators.

Perth is just one win outside the top eight and will be desperate to keep up the pressure on the Lightning by upsetting Total Connections Perry Lakes Hawks, who had won 14 of their past 15 games before a shock loss to Kalamunda last week.

The Redbacks also face Rockingham Flames, who are bottom of the league after eight-straight losses, and should be too good.

Willetton just needs to win three of its last four games to guarantee a first-place finish and one of those victories should come at home against Rockingham on Saturday.
