Lightning strikes off the bench! That should be this weeks title after the way the purple outfit has shoved a nice brand new size 6 molten up OTB's mouth!

Only a few weeks out of declaring them disappointments for the season, Lakeside women have pinched some of the winning water bottle juice from their male counter parts to secure consecutive wins bar one loss in a 5 game stretch. It is very much a very impressive run of performances culminating in their 30 point demolition of an in-form senators last weekend by 30 points away.

The senators had been in good form in the last month, pushing the Tigers, Cougar and Hawks before coming through with a win against the Slammers in the last month. The first three are all above the lightning on the ladder so to blow out the Stirling in the fashion they have looking at the stats sheet is worth plenty of note.

So how come the turn around? From pretenders to the real deal... simple - cohesion, shots dropping and injury free.

The Lightning seem to be the same team with players putting through better numbers. They are healthy at a stage in the season where most teams are bruised, battered and suffering. The courtney twins are shooting the three ball like they always have but are hitting more and in crucial stages in games. Import Heidi is finally putting together import numbers to compliment her effort and hustle.

These factors are only a few of the reasons why they have been in good form over the last month. Coach is clearly doing a great job and its finally paying off on the wins column.

Going into the finals, Lakeside are going to be the bogey team that no team is going to want to play and I say that with all due respect to a team.playing well on both ends of the floor. It is a well walked path over the years, the bigger seed coming through the pack. Any cohort of Bayliss, Byrnes, Van Schie, Fielding, McNeill & Hammond must always be respected.

So there you go OTB, STUFF THAT AROUND YOUR MOUTH! Divine intervention, sipping some of the men's gatorade, or logical explanations for improved form... no matter what it is, the Lightning are going to cause some raucus in the coming weeks.
