Thompson retires, joins Eagles coaching staff
The East Perth Eagles would like to announce with much regret that due to ongoing injuries Kate Thompson has had to retire from basketball.
Kate has been a fantastic and loyal player of the East Perth Basketball club and these decisions are never made lightly or without some sadness. We wish to thank her for all she has done at East Perth, as not only a friend and Coach but also as a Board Member of the club.
Kate and Head Coach Anthony Fletcher have been in discussions about her continuing her playing into 2012 for some months and the club would like to announce that Kate will come on board as an assistant coach along with Bill Edwards.
"I believe this is a step in the right direction for Kate as she has shown very good leadership and coaching qualities throughout her career" Fletcher said.
Kate will join the group in her new role at training this week.
