Defending men's State Basketball League champions Wanneroo Wolves have strengthened their roster with the addition of American Jordan Wild.

Wild, 23, is a versatile forward who played collegiate basketball in America with Fresno Pacific University in the Golden State Athletic Conference.

The 203cm, 100kg Californian holds the GSAC record for most games won by a player and also is a conference title winner.

Wolves coach Ben Ettridge said the signing of Wild, who arrived in Australia on Saturday and has already met his new teammates, was a major boost to the club.

“Jordan has already impressed us at the Wolfpack with his attitude and professional approach to the game of Basketball," he said.

"We are very excited to have Jordan join the Wolfpack. What impressed me on film was also confirmed after speaking to his previous coach is that he plays with such enthusiasm and high energy."

Wild said his decision to join Wanneroo was based in part on a recommendation from former Wolves import John Vaudreuil.

"I'm very excited to be apart of the Wolfpack, after hearing about their success last season I am looking forward to playing my part and continuing the success for the club this season," he said.

“After speaking to some buddies of mine about the West Australian league it came highly recommended. Ben (Ettridge) rang me and after hearing about the program he has in place and how professional he and (vice president Glen Simpson) acted during the whole negotiation period it felt right to sign with the Wolfpack."

The Wolves begin their title defence on March 17 against Kalamunda.
