Lightning strike downs Hawks (Friday Night Wrap)

Lakeside Lightning have continued their undefeated season against Perry Lakes Hawks 104-92 in Friday night's clash at the Lakeside Recreation Centre.

Lakesides dominant first half resulted in a 24 point lead over the Hawks and although they gradually shrunk the deficit in the second half, Perry Lakes still succumbed to a 12 point loss.

The Hawks were superior in both field goal and three point shooting accuracy with the help of star import Matthew Rosinski, a key offensive player who managed nearly 43 minutes of game time with 27 points, six assists and eight rebounds.

Bottom four team East Perth Eagles had a shock victory against second top side Perth Redbacks 110-97 in a surprising but well deserved upset.

The Eagles had a consistent lead on the score board the entire game and a far greater shooting accuracy in free throws, three points and field goals.

Centre Tom Jervis was a standout for the Eagles with 34 points, 19 rebounds and three assists, clearly a dominant force in East Perth's second win of the season.

The Cockburn Cougars have smashed the South West Slammers 107-72 thanks to their far superior field goal accuracy.

Although the Slammers had more shots at goal their 37 percent shooting average was clearly the team's downfall.

Cockburn had a lead of 17 points by half time and increased that to 35 points by the siren, with the help of Brian Carlwell (22 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists) and Sheldon McIntyre (10 rebounds and 8 assists).

In the women's league the Slammers defeated the Cougars 71-64, while Lakeside defeated the Perry Lakes 68-55.

Perth defeated the Eagles by nine points with star player Marita Payne (22 points, 18 rebounds and three assists) to thank.
