Wolves hunt down Stirling (Saturday night wrap)

The Wanneroo Wolves have defeated the Stirling Senators 108-96 last night in a top eight clash that left the defending champions with their sixth win of men's State Basketball League season.

Dominant court personalities were Wolves players Damian Matacz (20 points, 12 rebounds and two assists) and Jordan Wild with 27 points, four rebounds and five assists and a shooting accuracy of an averaged 70 percent.

Senators import Michael Jones was a key offensive player for the Senators scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds as was Chris Dodd with 20 points, six rebounds and 11 assists.

Mandurah Magic were stand out winners smashing the Rockingham Flames by 36 points.

The Magics won 111-75 thanks to a far superior shooting accuracy in field goals and three point shots with help from Taylor Mullenax (25 points, ten rebounds and four assists).

The Goldfields Giants came from behind with a seven point deficit at half time to defeat the Willetton Tigers by eight points with a final score of 94-86.

In a battle for the 12th spot on the leader board the South West Slammers defeated the Kalamunda Eastern Suns 81-68.

After a neck and neck game for the first three quarters the Geraldton Buccaneers made a last quarter come back to defeat the East Perth Eagles 96-87.

In last nights women's games, the Wolves defeated the Senators 65-46 with impressive performances from Wanneroo's Sherelle Johnson (nine points, five rebounds, three assists) and Stirling's Lyndal Gardner (40 minutes on court and 22 points).

A last quarter come back has led Rockingham to defeat Mandurah 66-63 after a close game and the Slammers smashed the Eastern Suns 94-67 with the help of a far greater field and free throw shooting accuracy.
