Tigers to take aim at Lightning (Round 7 men's preview)

Willetton will be desperate to string two wins together for the first time in 2012 when they face cross-town rivals Lakeside Lightning in week seven Men's State Basketball League action.

The Tigers have had mixed results so far and are yet to string two wins together however with an eight point loss to Goldfields being their largest defeat, they could easily have found themselves in a much stronger position this season.

Geraldton faces a tough road double when they head into town to face Perth Redbacks and Cockburn Cougars.

Ironically it is away from home that Geraldton has been stronger this season winning three out of four games on the road, while they have triumphed just once at home in four attempts.

Both Perth (6-2) and Cockburn (4-3) have proven to be tough opposition early in the season and Geraldton will need to be at their best to stay in the top eight.

The Stirling Senators have a great opportunity to get back into the top eight when they face the struggling sides Kalamunda (1-6) and Rockingham (1-7).

The Senators sit just one game outside the top eight with a 3-5 record however a strong weekend would potentially see them move up the standings.

Perry Lakes Hawks will be looking to capitalise on their two point win in Geraldton last weekend when they face the Rockingham and Kalamunda this weekend.

The Hawks are in sixth place with a 4-3 record and a strong weekend this weekend would keep them in touch with the top four teams.

Defending champions the Wanneroo Wolves will be looking to bounce back at home against East Perth Eagles after going down to the much improved Mandurah Magic during week six.

Mandurah will be looking to capitalise on their strong showing last weekend which saw them move to third place with a 6-2 record.

The Magic will not face an easy task though as they host the Cockburn Cougars who continue to improve with the addition of second import Jeremiah Wilson.

The South West Slammers will face the long trek to the Goldfields to play the Giants in a game the Giants must win to stay in touch with the top eight.
