No place like home for MSBL teams (Round 9 men's wrap)

Home court advantages dominated round nine of the men's State Basketball League with host teams taking home eight of the nine weekend victories.

League number one the Lakeside Lightning took down the Perth Redbacks 90-84 on Friday night.

The Lightning were led by Luke Payne (22 points and 11 rebounds) while Redbacks big man & Wildcats development player Michael Vigor (26 points, ten rebounds and six assists) led the way for his side.

Defensive pressure from the Redbacks saw the Lightning struggle offensively, making just 25/96 shots but Lakeside saw more off the ball thanks for a 71-42 rebound count.

Breathing down the neck of the current leaders are the Wanneroo Wolves who are gunning for the top spot after defeating the South West Slammers 124-83.

The Wolves were led by Jordan Wild (23 points, seven rebounds), Damian Matacz (22 points) and a triple-double from Greg Hire with 16 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

It was another great weekend for the up and coming Mandurah Magic locking in two more wins, taking down the Willetton Tigers 85-83 on Friday night and the Goldfields Giants 114-100 on Saturday.

Taylor Mullenax (18 points, eight rebounds) and Thomas Remmerswaal 26 points, 15 rebounds went head to head with Tiger's Robert Kampman (25 points, 13 rebounds) and Ephrem Davis with (21 points and 13 rebounds).

Mandurah's Taylor Mullenax had another incredible game against the Giants with 29 points and 13 rebounds alongside superstar Thomas Remmerswaal with 31 points.

Willetton had a weekend to forget with another two heart breaking losses, going down to the Redbacks 90-89 on Saturday night as well.

The Perry Lakes Hawks defeated the Giants 95-93 with a stand out offensive performance form Shane Ross with 32 points and 18 rebounds.

The Geraldton Buccaneers defeated Stirling Senators 96-87, the Senators only making a disheartening eight percent of shots taken from the three point line.

The East Perth Eagles defeated the Cockburn Cougars 96-76 while a bottom of the ladder clash saw the Kalamunda Eastern Suns take down the Rockingham Flames 127-95 for Kalamunda's second win of the season.
