Redbacks look to extend run (Round 10 women's preview)

The Perth Redbacks will look to extend their four game winning streak this weekend in round ten of the women's State Basketball League when they take on the Rockingham Flames on Saturday night.

The Redbacks could be a big threat to the top of the ladder Wanneroo Wolves, they are currently sitting on eight wins just trailing behind the Wolves nine wins.

The third placed South West Slammers face a tough weekend, hosting the fourth placed Lakeside Lightning on Friday night and hitting the road to tackle the fifth placed Willetton Tigers on Saturday.

The Slammers have succumbed to both of their defeats away from home and will be looking to put the Lightning away early on Friday night to give themselves the best chance against the Tigers on the road.

Cockburn Cougars face another challenge this weekend, playing the Perry Lakes Hawks in a Hawks home game on Friday night, the Hawks having secured three of their four wins at home.

The Cougars will then host the in-form Kalamunda Eastern Suns on Saturday night in another tough fixture.

The Suns will be optimistic having gained serious momentum on the back of a five game winning streak while the Cougars are still looking for their second win of the season.

On Saturday night the Stirling Senators will host the Hawks for Perry Lakes second game of the weekend, both teams hungry for wins on the back of losses.

Both teams have struggled in recent weeks, the Hawks having lost three of the last five games, faring just slightly better than the Senators who have dropped four from five games.

In a bottom four clash the East Perth Eagles will tackle the Mandurah Magic on Saturday night with East Perth, last year’s grand finalists, needing to find some form heading into the second half of the season.

While the Magic are yet to win on the road, they will fancy their chances against the struggling Eagles.
