Wolves get past Lightning in top of table clash (Friday night wrap)

An epic top of the ladder clash saw the second place Wanneroo Wolves take down league number one the Lakeside Lightning 93-90 on Friday night.

The Wolves welcomed Wildcats guard Brad Robbins and were biting at the heels of the Lightning the entire game until a last minute attack saw Wanneroo secure the three point victory.

The thrilling defeat leads the Wolves to their fifth consecutive win while being the only team to remain undefeated on the road.

The Wolves made it over the line with dominant offensive pressure from Damian Matacz (24 points, 8 rebounds) and Wildcat's Greg Hire with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Luke Payne (20 points, five rebounds and six assists), Ben Beran (20 points) and Jarrad Prue (10 points, 15 rebounds) tried valiantly to help Lakeside cause.

The East Perth Eagles soared into sixth position after smashing the Perry Lakes Hawks 126-87.

An incredible performance from Eagles big man Tom Jervis (31 points, 12 rebounds) and guard Drew Williamson with 21 points, nine steals, six rebounds and five assists too much pressure for Hawks.

Shane Ross (22 points, eight rebounds) and Matt Rosinski (21 points) were the standouts for Perry Lakes.

In the women's league the fourth place Lightning took down the top of the ladder Wolves 80-63.

The Wolves mange to cling to the top spot despite a stellar performance from Lakeside's Jessica Seyler (22 points, eight rebounds) and Courtney Byrnes with 18 points.

The ninth place Eagles defeated the seventh place Hawks 58-57 in a thriller.

The game was a close call with double-double's from Eagles Samantha Norwood (20 points, 12 rebounds) and Bindi Foote (12 points, ten rebounds) just too much for Hawks Kate Duff (16 points) and Chelsea Boyanich (13 points).
