Wolves drop from outright top spot (Round 11 women's wrap)

The Wanneroo Wolves slipped from the top spot in week eleven after going down to the fourth place Lakeside Lightning on Friday night and then the eighth place Rockingham Flames on Saturday.

The Wolves fell from grace going down to the Lightning 80-63 on Friday night and dropped their home game on Saturday to Rockingham 74-56.

A solid offensive attack from Lakeside's Jessica Seyler (22 points, eight rebounds, five assists) and Courtney Byrnes with 18 points, too much for the Wolves who were led by Ainsleigh Sanders with 15 points and ten rebounds.

The Flames scorched the Wolves on the back of an incredible game from Flames superstar Emma Cannon with 33 point, 21 rebounds and five assists.

The Wolves struggled from the perimeter in both games, converting just 2 of 19 attempts from the outside for the weekend.

The South West Slammers have moved into the top position after taking down the Cockburn Cougars 76-70 on Saturday night.

An impressive performance from Slammers Kim Sitzmann (20 points, nine rebounds) and a double-double from Zoe Harper (19 points, 14 rebounds) nudging the Slammers into the top spot on percentage.

The Cougars pushed the Slammers on the back of a strong all-round performance from import Stephanie Jones who finished with 20 points and 13 rebounds.

The Kalamunda Eastern Suns knocked down Perth Redbacks 76-63, edging them out of a top four position, Suns Lizel Buckley top scored with 20 points and five rebounds.

It was a disheartening weekend for the Perry Lakes Hawks slipping down the ladder with back to back losses against the East Perth Eagles on Friday night and the Willetton Tigers on Saturday.

The Eagles defeated the seventh place Hawks 58-57 with recent Canberra Capitals signing Samantha Norwood leading the way with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

The Tigers moved into fourth position after defeating the Hawks 85-61 on Saturday night.
