Slammers face double header (Round 13 women's preview)

The South West Slammers will be looking to extend their lead on top of the women’s state basketball league this weekend as they face the Mandurah Magic on Friday and the Stirling Senators on Saturday.

The Slammers have the perfect opportunity to extend their lead on the top, the Senators and the Magic have both last four consecutive games and the Magic have not won on the road in 2012.

The Senators have secured both of their victories at home and with the Slammers succumbing to all three losses on the road, Saturday night looks to be the danger game of the weekend for the Slammers.

Wanneroo Wolves host the fifth place Kalamunda Eastern Suns on Saturday night in a tough game after the Wolves bye last weekend.

The Wolves are 6-1 at home but they are in questionable form having lost the last two games and will need to bounce back to beat the Eastern Suns, who have won four of their last five games.

Third place Willetton Tigers take on the seventh place Rockingham Flames in Willetton on Saturday night and despite the Tigers solid 5-2 home record, the Flames are in good form having won four of their last five games.

The Flames are definitely a side to watch with Emma Cannon leading the league in points & rebounds and Jacinta Bourne leading the league in steals while Willetton are missing captain Melissa Marsh and star Courtney Hargreaves.

Rockingham also play the tenth place Cockburn Cougars at home on Friday night to round out their double header weekend.

Perth Redbacks face a crucial double header this weekend taking on top four Lakeside Lightning on Friday night and then bottom of the ladder Magic game on Saturday.
