Magic jump to third (Round 13 Men's wrap)

The Mandurah Magic jumped into third place in the men's State Basketball League after a thrilling double header saw the Magic come out with back to back victories against the South West Slammers and the Perth Redbacks.

The Magic took down the Slammers 99-95 on Friday night, the Magic were down by four points going into the final quarter but managed to get the win thanks to a 32 point final quarter.

Taylor Mullenax was the star with 24 points and eight rebounds, he was backed up by point guard Andrew Bowman who scored 20 points.

The Magic then defeated the Redbacks 98-94 on Saturday night, Mullenax was again the standout with 32 points and 11 rebounds while centre Tom Remmersaal picked up 26 points and 13 rebounds.

In a top four clash on Friday night the Lakeside Lightning took down the Perth Redbacks 124-91.

The Lightning secured the win with 21 three pointers and stellar games from guards Brad Jackson (29 points) and Darrel Morgan (26 points).

The second place Wanneroo Wolves are now on an eight game winning streak after beating the Kalamunda Eastern Suns 102-86.

Wolves veteran Damian Matacz finished with 26 points and nine rebounds, he was supported by Greg Hire and Brad Robbins who both finished with 15 points.

The Cockburn Cougars gave the Rockingham Flames their second 60 plus point loss in two weeks with a 149-84 win on Friday night.

The Cougars were led by centre Brian Carlwell (31 points, 15 rebounds) and forward Jeremiah Wilson with 24 points and 15 rebounds.

Willetton Tigers picked up their third consecutive win, taking down Flames 123-105 for the Flames eighth consecutive loss on Saturday night.

Tigers duo Robert Cassir (29 points) and Ephrem Davis (24 points and 12 rebounds) were the stars for Willetton.

The Goldfields Giants snuck over the line in front of their home crowd to take down the Perry Lakes Hawks 103-101 and return to the top eight.

Giants guard Ty Harrelson (25 points) and forward Dwayne Radcliffe (18 rebounds) were the driving force behind the Goldfields win, while former Giants import Matt Rosinski had 33 points for the Hawks.

The Geraldton Buccaneers have extended their losing streak to six games after going down to the East Perth Eagles 91-83, putting a major dent in their finals hopes.

The Stirling Senators bounced back from a three game losing streak to smash the Slammers 116-73 for the Slammers seventh consecutive loss this season.
