Eagles to face top two teams (Round 14 women's preview)

A daunting weekend looms for the ninth place East Perth Eagles in Round 14 of the women's State Basketball League, taking on the second place Wanneroo Wolves tonight and then top of the ladder South West Slammers on Saturday.

Last year’s grant finalists, East Perth, are on a four game winning streak and will fancy their chances at home against the tough Wanneroo outfit.

The Wolves are in shaky form having lost their last three games and they will be desperate to secure a victory against the bottom four side as they only hold onto second place on percentage.

Despite being a bottom four side the Eagles go into the game on the back of four consecutive wins and taking down the Wolves could really turn their season around.

The Eagles then take on the Slammers on Saturday night on the road in Eaton, where they remain undefeated at 7-0.

Fourth place Willetton Tigers will be keen to bounce back from last weeks defeat when they take on the eleventh place Stirling Senators in a Senators home game on Saturday night.

The Senators have secured both of their victories at home but are in below average form having lost the last five consecutive games, however the Tigers are still without stars Melissa Marsh and Courtney Hargreaves.

Kalamunda Eastern Suns play the eighth place Perry Lakes Hawks on Saturday, the Eastern Suns are in great form having won four of their last five games.

In a battle of youth, the Cockburn Cougars host the bottom of the ladder Mandurah Magic tonight and then hit the road to play the much more experienced Perth Redbacks on Saturday.

The Magic will be looking at this as a great opportunity to strike while the Cougars are in such inconsistent form.

While the Magic are really struggling this season having lost their last six games, they put up a great fight against the Slammers last week when they went down by just ten points.
