Cougars face tough test (Round 14 men's preview)

Cockburn Cougars face a tough double header in Round 14 of the men's State Basketball League, when they go up against the third place Mandurah Magic tonight and take on the fifth place Perth Redbacks on Saturday.

It will be an intense top four clash tonight when the Cougars host the Magic, both teams are in impressive form with the Magic having a 5-3 record on the road while the Cougars remain 5-3 at home.

The Cougars then hit the road to take on the Redbacks, despite Perth being on a two game losing streak they remain a steady 6-2 at home, matching the Cougars 6-2 record on the road.

The East Perth Eagles have a double header this weekend hosting the second place Wanneroo Wolves tonight and then taking on the South West Slammers on Saturday.

Wanneroo are in incredible form having won their last eight games, the Wolves remain undefeated on the road and will look to continue their clean slate against the seventh place Eagles.

The Eagles are also in looking good having won four of their last five games, however the Slammers will be desperately looking for a win to end their seven game losing streak on Saturday.

The eighth place Goldfields Giants take on top of the ladder Lakeside Lightning on Saturday night in a Giants home game, the Lightning chasing their sixteenth win of the season, however they will be without several key players.

Stirling Senators host the sixth place Willetton Tigers on Saturday night, both teams have had inconsistent form so far this season, however the Tigers are currently on a three game winning streak.

The Perry Lakes Hawks will be looking to turn the second half of their season around on Saturday when they face the resurgent Kalamunda Eastern Suns.

Ninth place Hawks are in questionable form having lost three of their last five games, however they will be hoping to secure a win and regain their spot in the top eight against the Lee Roberts led Eastern Suns.

The struggling Geraldton Buccaneers host bottom of the ladder Rockingham Flames on Saturday night, the Flames desperate to extinguish their eight game losing streak while the Buccs will be looking to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.
