Slammers squander bright start

The Collie Crane Hire South West Slammers squandered a promising first-half showing to go down to East Perth 92-71 at the Eaton Recreation Centre on Saturday night.

The Slammers led by seven points at the long break after an impressive opening to the game in which accuracy from the field was a feature.

Shooting at more than 40 per cent from the field, the Slammers opened up a double-figures lead at one stage during the second quarter and looked set to replicated their impressive round two victory over the Eagles earlier this season.

But the home side relinquished their grip on proceedings and were outscored 35-14 in a disastrous third period.
