Tribunal Results - Wild, Roberts & Hughes

The State Basketball League has recently referred two separate complaints to the tribunal from the Wanneroo Wolves versus Kalamunda Eastern Suns game on Saturday 9 June in line with the SBL By-Laws.

The two tribunals were heard separately over the past two weeks due to timing of the complaints received.

Wanneroo Wolves player Jordan Wild, Kalamunda Eastern Suns player Lee Roberts and assistant Coach Jason Hughes were all charged by the tribunal with “abusive, threatening and obscene language” as well as “acting in an unsportsmanlike manner in the stadium precincts or surrounds.”

Wild pleaded guilty at his tribunal hearing on June 13 and after hearing statements from the relevant parties, the tribunal suspended Wild for a total of three games, he is eligible to return on June 30.

The tribunal noted that Wild pleaded guilty, was full of remorse and apologised to Roberts after the game.

Roberts and Hughes both pleaded not guilty at their tribunal hearing on June 20 and after hearing evidence from all parties and match officials, the tribunal found both Roberts and Hughes not guilty.

The State Basketball League has also notified all teams that derogatory comments during a game from any team official or player will not be tolerated and any further reports will be dealt with in a serious manner by the league and tribunal.
