Wolves dismantle Giants to join Lightning on top (Saturday night wrap)

The Wanneroo Wolves have climbed into equal top spot after destroying the Goldfields Giants 109-68.

Last nights win saw the Wolfpack secure their 11th consecutive victory after a rocky start to the game.

Tied at half time with 49 points a piece the Wolves rose to the challenge, a 60 point second half saw the Wolves more than triple the Giants second half score.

The Wolves were led by Damian Matacz (29 points, nine rebounds) and Greg Hire with 15 points, 20 rebounds and eight assists.

Bouncing back from last nights loss the Cockburn Cougars took down the Willetton Tigers 102-82.

The Cougars had big numbers from Gavin Field (28 points) and double-doubles from Jeremiah Wilson (23 points, 13 rebounds) and Brian Carlwell with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

The Perry Lakes Hawks had a close call against the Perth Redbacks, rising to victory 111-101.

Redbacks extended their losing streak to four after a neck and neck game.

East Perth Eagles took down the Stirling Senators 107-92, the Eagles were led by Tom Jervis with 29 points and 11 rebounds.

A bottom of the ladder clash saw the Geraldton Buccaneers smash the South West Slammers 101-79.

Buccaneers securing the victory with ten three pointers and solid games from guard Daniel Thomas (27 points) and Aaron Ralph with 21 points.

The Kalamunda Eastern Suns continued their strong form and kept their playoff hopes alive with a 104-96 win over the Mandurah Magic at home. 

Star import Lee Roberts was again the hero with 21 points and 19 rebounds while fellow American Taylor Mullenax had 33 points and 14 rebounds for the Magic. 

In the women's league the second place Redbacks extended their winning streak, taking down the Hawks 68-52.

Kalamunda are now on a five game winning streak after defeating bottom of the ladder Magic 83-48.

A desperate bid to remain in the top four saw the Tigers take down the Cougars 84-73 while a bottom four clash the Eagles defeated the Senators 65-60.
