Buccs take down Slammers

A win at Activewest Stadium tomorrow night could see the Geraldton Buccaneers within touching distances of a playoff position.

The Buccs will add another chapter to their storied rivalry with fellow country side South West Slammers as the 13th placed visitors travel north.

A win would be the Buccs’ seventh for the season and have them just two points out of the top eight.

Buccaneers coach Ray Evans said the next two weeks are do-or-die matched for the team.

“The Slammers are our main objective but next week’s game against the (Goldfields) Giants could determine where we finish,” he said.

Geraldton had lost six games before last weekend’s comfortable win over the Rockingham Flames.

The Slammers are currently on an eight-game losing streak with a 3-15 win-loss record.

Slammers’ Carlos White and Senario Hillman are sure to be at the forefront of the Buccs’ pre-game plans.

They are the only two players averaging more than 10 points a game.

White is averaging 22.9 points and 12.8 rebounds a game while Hillman is producing 21.9 points.

The Buccs’ Daniel Thomas was back at his scoring best last week, netting 22 points in just his second game back after a broken thumb.
