Redbacks continue to climb (Round 15 women's wrap)

The Perth Redbacks are chasing the top spot after securing their fourth consecutive win on Saturday night, taking down the ninth place Perry Lakes Hawks 68-52.

Perth were led by Rachel Watman (15 points) with strong support from Marita Payne (ten points, nine rebounds) and Gabby O'Sullivan with ten points.

Hot on the heels of Perth, Kalamunda Eastern Suns smashed bottom of the ladder Mandurah Magic 83-48 on Saturday night, leaving the Magic with their eighth consecutive loss this season.

It was a big weekend for the fourth place Willetton Tigers, taking down the struggling Wanneroo Wolves on Friday night and then the Cockburn Cougars on Saturday.

It was a close call for the Tigers on Friday as they snuck over the line to defeat the Wolves 61-56 in overtime, the Wolves now on a five game losing streak.

Guard Jasmine Hooper starred with 16 point and 11 rebounds, while the Wolves were led by Shani Amos with 14 points and six rebounds.

Despite an amazing performance form Cougars import Stephanie Jones (34 points, 15 rebounds) the Cougars fell to the Tigers 84-73.

The Tigers were again led by Jasmine Hooper (25 points, eight rebounds) and Lara Napier with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Rockingham Flames remain in incredible form after defeating last year’s grand finalists East Perth Eagles 74-60 on Friday night.

The Flames were led by Kaye Tucker (21 points), Jacinta Bourne (17 points, seven rebounds) and a double-double from Emma Cannon with 15 points and 14 rebounds.

The Cockburn Cougars also had a close loss to the Lakeside Lightning on Friday night before losing to the Tigers on Saturday.

The Lightning defeated the Cougars 85-81 with impressive performances from Lakesides Emily Fielding (23 points, nine rebounds), Jessica Seyler (18 points) and Courtney Byrnes with 16 points and ten rebounds.

Despite the Cougars loss, Stephanie Jones had an incredible game with 35 points and 22 rebounds.

A last quarter comeback saw the Eagles take down the Stirling Senators 65-60 on Saturday night, Eagles led by Samantha Norwood with 21 points and 13 rebounds.
