Wolves strike to share lead (Round 15 men's wrap)

The battle for the minor premiership looks set to go down to the wire after the Wanneroo Wolves picked up two wins to join Lakeside Lightning in tied first position.

The Wolves put away the Willetton Tigers 87-73 on Friday, led by centre Damian Matacz (32 points, 14 rebound) and Greg hire (25 points, 22 rebounds).

Wanneroo then went on to smash the Giants 109-68, stars of the match again Damian Matacz with 29 points and Greg Hire with 15 points and 20 rebounds.

Top of the ladder Lakeside Lightning faced rivals Cockburn Cougars on Friday and survived a comeback in the third quarter to claim a 84-83 victory.

Despite an incredible game from Cougars Jeremiah Wilson (25 points) the Lightning were led to victory by Ben Beran (24 points) and Brad Jackson with 24 points.

The Cougars bounced back to take down seventh place Tigers 102-82 on Saturday night on the back of 28 points from Gavin Field and 23 points from Jeremiah Wilson.

Mandurah Magic had a blow to their top four dreams, going down to 11th place Kalamunda Eastern Suns 104-96, the Magic in inconsistent form having lost three of their last five games.

Lee Roberts led from the front for the Eastern Suns with 21 points and 19 rebounds while Magics import Taylor Mullenax stood out with 33 points of his own.

A last quarter comeback saw the East Perth Eagles sneak over the line to defeat the bottom of the ladder Rockingham Flames 102-101.

Former Wildcats development player Jarrod Balcombe stood out for the Eagles with 33 points while Tom Jervis had 30 points.

The Eagles then went on to take down the Stirling Senators 107-92 on Saturday.

Perth Redbacks split their weekend to halt their four game losing streak.

The Redbacks went down to the eighth place Perry Lakes Hawks 107-100 on Friday night but bounced back to take down the ninth place Giants on Sunday.

Perth took down the Giants 97-87, import Blake Bender had 26 points and guard Joel Wagner finished with 22 points.

Geraldton Buccaneers took down the South West Slammers 101-79 with Daniel Thomas (27 points) and Aaron Ralph (21 points) leading the way.
