Mandurah face tough double header (Round 17 men's preview)

Mandurah Magic face a test in week seventeen of men’s state basketball league action when they take on the Perry Lakes Hawks and Lakeside Lightning.

The Magic are just holding on to their top four position and will host the Hawks on Friday night with the Hawks, last year’s runners-up, facing a challenge to hold on to their finals place.

Their big test will come on Saturday away to Lakeside, the Lightning dropped one of their only two loses back in week eight against the Magic and will be out to make amends and continue their six game winning streak.

Wanneroo Wolves will have an opportunity to jump into top spot with their double header against the Perth Redbacks and Stirling Senators, they are currently in tied first place with Lakeside.

The Wolves, who are yet to drop a road game, will face the Redbacks away in a crucial game for the Redbacks who have won just one of their past six games on the back of injuries.

Last year’s champions then return home to take on the Stirling Senators on Saturday night, the Senators are in shaky form having lost the last four consecutive games and look set to miss out on finals action in 2012.

Willetton Tigers will be looking to control their destiny in the last weeks of the season and snap their three game losing streak when they take on the inform East Perth Eagles away from home on Friday night.

The Eagles then hit the road and take on the third place Cockburn Cougars on Saturday night, both teams are in strong form having dropped just one of their past five games.

The Kalamunda Eastern Suns are just outside the top eight and will hit the road to take on the Geraldton Buccaneers, the Buccs have very slim playoff hopes and will need to win all of their remaining games.

Eastern Suns on the other hand have had a revival since the arrival of import Lee Roberts and are just two games outside the top eight with four weeks to go.

The South West Slammers only game this weekend is on the road to the Hawks who will be looking for revenge after their loss to the Slammers back in week eight.

Goldfields Giants will be looking to continue their surge towards a finals place when they host the struggling Rockingham Flames, they are just one game outside of the top eight and will fancy their chances against the Flames are on a 12 game losing streak.
