Wolves jump into first (Friday night wrap)

After a close call with the Perth Redbacks the Wanneroo Wolves finally ascend into first position in the standings.

A solid 31 point last quarter led the Wolves from behind to secure the victory 108-102, Wanneroo are now on an incredible 13 game winning streak.

The Wolves were led by centre Damian Matacz (26 points, 10 rebounds), import Jordan Wild (26 points, 16 rebounds) and point guard Sebastian Salinas with 24 points.

Securing their spot in the top four the Mandurah Magic have taken down the Perry Lakes Hawks 114-85 in a Mandurah home game, the Magic now a solid 9-2 at home this season.

Despite a last quarter come back the Hawks were too far behind to close the deficit.

Magic veteran Aaron Trahair (25 points), import Taylor Mullenax (23 points) and forward Thomas Remmerswaal (17 points) were all strong.

The East Perth Eagles continue to rise after defeating the Willetton Tigers 93-77, the Eagles are now on a five game winning streak while the Tigers have succumbed to their fourth consecutive loss.

East Perth were led by forward Jarrad Balcombe (30 points, eight rebounds) and centre Tom Jervis with 21 points, 23 rebounds and seven blocks.

In the women's league the Wolves have ended their six game losing streak taking down the top four Redbacks 60-48, a big 25 point last quarter led them to victory along with solid performances from Sue Williams (16 points), Megan Lee (nine points) and Shani Amos with nine points.

The second place Tigers are still chasing the top spot after defeating the Eagles 71-68 in a grand final rematch. Despite a slow first quarter the Tigers bounced back to secure their fourth consecutive win.

In a bottom four clash the Hawks defeated the Magic 72-48, the Hawks were led by Belinda Mayger with 22 points and nine rebounds.
