Redbacks go down to Wolves

The Perth Redbacks Men’s and Women’s teams both lost their State Basketball League home-games to the Wanneroo Wolves.

The Redbacks men were narrowly beaten 102 to 108 by the top-placed Wolves in a see-saw game in which the lead changed 11 times.

Redbacks power-forward Adrian Majstrovich top-scored for the Redbacks with 25 at a field goal percentage of 50% along with 13 rebounds, three assists and two steals while small-forward Blake Bender scored 22 at 69% and had 12 rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Point-guard Joel Wagner scored 22 at 40% together with nine assist and four steals while shooting guard Jarrad Prior scored 17 at 43% along with six rebounds.

The Redbacks men now have 12 wins and 10 losses and remain in sixth place in the 14-team competition.

The Redbacks Women’s team lost to the sixth-placed Wolves 48 to 60.

They now have 12 wins and seven losses and have dropped one place to fifth in the 12-team competition.

Veteran shooting-guard Narelle Henry top-scored for the Redbacks with 13 at 60% together with three assists, three steals and four rebounds.

17-year-old forward Jessica Jakens was their next highest scorer with 12 at 71% along with eight rebounds and two assists.

Forward Brooke Hiddlestone had six points at 38% and five rebounds.

The Redbacks teams will hope to reverse these losses in this Saturday’s home-game fixtures at the Belmont Oasis Leisure Centre against the Rockingham Flames, with tip-off for the women’s game being at 6PM and at 8PM for the men’s game.
