Wolves secure minor premiership (Saturday night wrap)

A top of the ladder clash between league number one the Wanneroo Wolves and the second place Lakeside Lightning saw the Wolves secure the minor premiership.

Wanneroo took down the Lightning 82-65 with double-doubles from Wolves Damian Matacz (23 points, 21 rebounds) and Jordan Wild with (16 points, 18 rebounds).

After two consecutive losses the Cockburn Cougars have bounced back to defeat the Perry Lakes Hawks 109-70.

There were big numbers on the board from Jeremiah Wilson (27 points, 11 rebounds) and Brian Carlwell with 22 points and eight rebounds.

East Perth Eagles had a close call just snagging their eighth consecutive victory after taking down the Goldfields Giants by one point.

East Perth were victorious 107-106 led to victory by Tom Jervis (31 points, seven rebounds) and Jarrad Balcombe with 21points and eight rebounds.

The Willetton Tigers have smashed the Perth Redbacks 91-56, solid games from Tigers Alex Prince (25 points, seven rebounds), Travis Moore (15 points) and Robert Kampman with 13 points.

A thrilling overtime clash between the Stirling Senators and the Geraldton Buccaneers saw the Buccaneers rise to victory 100-95to keep their slim, finals chances going.

Geraldton were led by Daniel Thomas (29 points), Michael Lay (27 points) and Morgan Sabia with 19 points and 19 rebounds.

The Kalamunda Eastern Suns bounced back from their Friday night loss with a come from behind 102-96 victory over the South West Slammers.

Lee Roberts was again on fire for Kalamunda with 31 points and 22 rebounds while fellow import Greg Palmer put up 24 points and centre Justin Brown had a solid 21 points and 11 rebounds.

In the women's league the fifth place Suns took down top of the ladder Slammers 73-68 to throw the race for top spot wide open.

The third place Wolves took down the Lightning 68-46, the Wolves were led by Shani Amos with 17 points.

The Tigers took down the Redbacks 85-57 on a the back of a double double from Tigers Jasmine Hooper with 21 points and ten rebounds.

The Cockburn Cougars surprised the Perry Lakes Hawks 67-60 to end the Hawks finals dreams.
