Slammers dunked after admin gaffe

The Collie Crane Hire South West Slammers women’s side’s aspirations of a top-two finish were dealt a major blow on Friday, when they were docked competition points for an administrative bungle.

In a dramatic weekend, the Slammers turned in their most impressive performance of the season on Friday night defeating Rockingham 77-60 at the Eaton Recreation Centre, just hours after receiving news of the decision.

They also lost to Kalamunda by five points in Perth the following evening, slipping from the top of the WSBL table for the first time since May.

Made during the Slammers’ round 16 victory over Wanneroo, the blunder was trivial.
