With the pressure on and some home court magic the Cockburn Cougars have secured the third place going into the playoffs after taking down top of the ladder Wanneroo Wolves 91-79.

Wanneroo were up by ten points at half time when the Cougars came alive, Cockburn steamrolled the Wolves in the third quarter 33 points and 15 rebounds to the Wolves ten points and four rebounds.

The Wolves bounced back in the final quarter but were too far behind to close the deficit, the defeat ending their incredible 17 game winning streak.

Cockburn were led to victory by Brian Carlwell (28 points, 21 rebounds), Jeremiah Wilson (19 points, eight rebounds), Seva Chan (15 points) and Gavin Field with 14 points.

Despite the loss there were solid numbers on the board from Wolves Greg Hire (24 points, 14 rebounds), Jackson Hussey (19 points) and Damian Matacz with 14 points and seven rebounds.

A devastating loss for the East Perth Eagles dropping out of a top four position after going down to the tenth place Kalamunda Eastern Suns 105-100.

The Suns are still in with a chance at the finals either if they take down the in-form Cougars or three other games tilt in their favour.

In the women's league the first place Wolves have secured the spot on top of the ladder after smashing the tenth place Cougars 85-50, the Wolves are back in prime form and will be confident heading into the playoffs on the back of six consecutive wins.

A three game winning streak for the Suns after taking down the Ealges 90-82, the Suns are only just out of a top four position as the season draws to an end but both teams are secured for a spot in the finals.
