Buccs watch on as Eastern Suns jump into finals

In spectacular fashion the Kalamunda Eastern Suns have upset the Cockburn Cougars 98-93 while Geraldton watched on to see their top eight position slip from their hands.

Geraldton completed their miraculous comeback to give themselves the best chance at a top eight position with a 110-85 victory over the Perth Redbacks.

The Buccaneers were led to victory by Morgan Sabia who had 29 points and 13 rebounds and while star guard Michael Lay finished with 26 points and ten rebounds.

However they were left to watch on to the last seconds of the regular season as Kalamunda completed their own second half of the season comeback to jump into the eighth and final playoff spot.

Import Greg Palmer led the way offensively with 31 points for the Eastern Suns while Justin Brown (24 points, 13 rebounds) and Lee Roberts (22 points, 14 rebounds) both chipped in with double-doubles.

Goldfields Giants secured seventh on the standings with a 98-92 victory over Mandurah Magic, the defeat see’s the Magic drop out of the top four.

Veteran import Michael Haney led the Giants with 28 points and 14 rebounds while fellow import Ty Harrelson finished with 21 points and eight rebounds.

Magic forward Thomas Remerswaal was again outstanding with 35 points and nine rebounds while fellow big man Taylor Mullenax had 24 points and 12 rebounds.

Perry Lakes Hawks saw their finals dreams end, going down to Lakeside Lightning 124-85, dominant players for the Lightning were Ben Beran (26 points), Luke Payne (17 points) and Jarrad Prue with 17 rebounds.

Stirling Senators have taken down the Rockingham Flames 107-95 to end their eight game losing streak, thanks to a dominant display in the third period.

The Senators were led by young forward Robert Huntington who put up 33 points and 15 rebounds while Aaron Coddington chipped in with 25 points.

Willetton Tigers picked up a victory in their last game of the season taking down bottom of the ladder South West Slammers 107-88 in Adam Neners 200th game.

For the Tigers Robert Kampman was strong with 33 points and eight rebounds with fellow import Ephrem Davis (21 points) and Kyle Armour (20 points) providing support.

Star guard Senario Hillman was again outstanding with 32 points and eight rebounds for the Slammers.

In the women's league the Tigers have secured their seventh consecutive win after taking down the Slammers 78-62 to finish second on the standings.

The Flames took down the Senators 65-55 to secure fourth on the standings, centre Emma Cannon dominated for the Flames with 30 points and 20 rebounds.

The Hawks put in a strong performance to defeat the Lightning 85-65, while the Eastern Suns took down the Cougars 95-71, the win not enough to get them into the top four.
