Wolves, Tigers out to level series (Women's Semi-Final Preview)

Rockingham Flames and South West Slammers will both be on a mission to make their clubs first grand final when their two respective semi-final series conclude this weekend.

However it won’t be easy with both teams having to win at least one game away from home with Wanneroo Wolves and Willetton Tigers having the home court advantage in their series.

The Flames have a 1-0 lead in their series against the Wanneroo Wolves after a 77-66 win in Rockingham last weekend, the series now transfers to the Joondalup Basketball Stadium on Friday night for game two.

Wanneroo will be hoping that familiar surrounds will improve their shooting after making just 1/12 from outside the three-point line last weekend and 36% from the field.

Their biggest concern however will be stopping Emma Cannon who was on fire in game one with a massive 33 points and 19 rebounds, while her partner in crime Kaye Tucker will also need to be slowed down.

If the Wolves are victorious the teams will play again on Saturday at Joondalup to decide who will move to the grand final on Friday 31 August at the WA Basketball Centre.

The Slammers are also 1-0 up in their series after defeating the defending champions Willetton Tigers 79-55 last Saturday night in Eaton.

South West dominated their home game and will be looking for a repeat performance from star Kim Sitzmann after her 23 points and ten rebounds in last weekend’s game.

The Tigers will be looking to Jasmine Hooper (average of 19 points a game) to step up to the challenge in front of the home crowd along with fellow WNBL players Melissa Marsh and Courtney Hargreaves.

If the Tigers can level the series in game two, the third and deciding game will be held on Saturday at Willetton to determine who will advance.
