Grand Final Officials Appointments

The State Basketball League is pleased to announce the officials for the 2012 Kickz101 State Basketball League Grand Finals.

Referees for the women's game will be Clayton Bird and Mark Grist with Craig Copes selected as the reserve. 

Bird has spent the past few years officiating both WNBL and SBL and is in his 12th season of SBL action. 

Grist is in his eighth SBL season and is the recipient of the 2005 Rookie Referee of the Year and the 2008 Most Improved Referee of the Year in the SBL. 

Reserve referee Craig Copes is coming off his first year of WNBL officiating and is a 2003 Rookie Referee of the Year and has ten seasons of SBL experience behind him. 

The Men's game will be officiated by Damian Lyons and David Bull with Peter Houghton the reserve referee, all three are current NBL and WNBL officials. 

Lyons is a current FIBA qualified referee with a number of international tournaments under his belt as well as 15 years of SBL experience and was the 1998 Rookie Referee of the Year. Lyons was also appointed to the 2011/12 WNBL Grand Final. 

Bull is a four time winner of the SBL Referee of the Year award and is also in his 19th SBL season of SBL action having received numerous SBL grand final appointments. Bull also received a WNBL finals appointment in the 2011/12 WNBL season. 

Houghton is a three time SBL Referee of the Year and in his 21st season of SBL action and has also received numerous SBL Grand Final appointments.
