Giants sign 2011 MVP

In what is a major coup, the Silver Lake Resources Goldfields Giants have signed former SBL All-Star Anthony Lee as the club’s first import for the 2013 State Basketball League season.

Anthony played for the Perry Lakes Hawks in 2011 and was one of the league's most dynamic players, culminating in him winning the SBL's Most Valuable Player award that year. With other clubs chasing his signature, we are most pleased that he has decided that the Giants is where he wants to continue his professional career.

Giants head coach Dan Fisher is ecstatic about this signing, as Anthony played under Dan while Dan was an assistant at Perry Lakes. Anthony is the type of player that any coach would love to have, and he will be coming off successful seasons in Norway and Cyprus before arriving in Australia.

For the Hawks, Anthony averaged 29 points per game (2nd in the SBL) and 15 rebounds per game (5th). He obviously had a liking for the Giants as he had hauls of 37 points/24 rebounds and 36 points/16 rebounds in his two games against us.

At 196cm (6-5”) and possessing exceptional athleticism, he has the ability to play the shooting guard, small forward or power forward position.

Anthony finishes his season in Cyprus at the end of February and is expected to arrive in Kalgoorlie in early March.
