Giants sign second import for 2013 season
The Silver Lake Resources Goldfields Giants have signed 24-year-old American Markhuri Sanders-Frison as their second import for the 2013 State Basketball League season.
Markhuri is a 201cm (6-7”) forward/centre who played college basketball at the highly respected University of California Golden Bears. The Golden Bears play in the NCAA Division One PAC-12 conference, and feature elite college programs such as the UCLA Bruins, Stanford Cardinal and Arizona Wildcats.
At around 120kg, Markhuri is known for his powerful physique and his wiliness to use his strength and muscle against opposition players. In his final year of college he averaged 11 points and a team-high 7.4 rebounds per game while shooting 59% from the field. Markhuri recently finished a stint in the Mexican National League where he averaged 11 points and a team-high 8.2 rebounds per game.
Markhuri is currently back in his hometown of Portland, Oregon, and the club expects him to arrive in Kalgoorlie sometime in February.
