Recruits impress on debut for Buccs

Geraldton Buccaneers coach Ray Evans says there is still work to be done before the start of the 2013 SBL season on March 16.

The Buccs defeated Willetton Tigers and South West Slammers, but lost to the Wanneroo Wolves and Lakeside Lightning in the weekend’s SBL Preseason Blitz in Perth.

Evans heaped praise on new recruits Mark Heron and Shamus Ballantyne on their Buccs debut.

He said their defensive work was outstanding and would play a big part in the team’s success going forward.

Imports Robert Kampman and Jamine Peterson both missed the blitz due to delays processing their immigration.
