Buccs part ways with star import

Sun City Plumbing Geraldton Buccaneers import Jamine Peterson, has had his contract terminated with the club after he was charged and received a two week suspension from the State Basketball League (SBL).

Peterson was charged with both obscene, abusive language and unsportsmanlike conduct.

Buccaneers General Manager Andrew Horstman, said Peterson had proved not to be the correct fit for the side.

“The club views and take any such incidences seriously and have fully cooperated with the SBL on the issue,” he said.

“Our team goal is to make the finals and to ultimately win a championship.

“To achieve that we need all of our players to embrace the club culture and team values.

“Jamine is not the correct fit for the team or the community if we want to achieve that,” Andrew added.

“The Buccs have an excellent, longstanding reputation and we won’t move forward with people who have the potential to damage the goodwill we have built over a long period of time.”

The incident took place on Sunday afternoon after their first away trip against Mandurah Magic in Perth.
